Coverage of Orthopedic Examination and Treatments
Orthopedic examinations and/or treatments may be (partially) covered by your health insurance, depending on the type of treatment and the terms of your policy.
Please note: most injection treatments are not covered by basic insurance and are therefore at your own expense. Exceptions to this are injections with corticosteroids and local anesthesia — these are usually covered.
We advise you to contact your health insurance provider in advance to inquire whether certain non-insured treatments may still be (partially) covered. This varies by policy and insurer, and prevents unpleasant surprises afterward.
Are the treatment costs tax-deductible?
Yes, the treatment costs are tax-deductible when you pay the costs yourself and these are not reimbursed by your health insurance. You must submit these costs in the year you incurred them. Only costs exceeding the threshold amount are deductible. This threshold amount depends on your income. When you complete your tax return digitally, the refund amount will be automatically calculated when you enter these costs.
Note*: An additional $75 will be charged for ultrasound-guided injection.
